Hofstra University’s Dutch Treats, a small convenient store located on residential side of campus, reopened on Thursday September 8, 2011. Along side of this the new renovation is Hofstra USA, which also reopened to students about a week later on September 16, 2011.
The small store offers gormet salads, made to order sandwiches, and a variety of convient store food options for students. Open 24 hours a day this location is a go to for Hofstra’s residents any time of day or night.
“I think the new Dutch is beautiful and definitely worth the wait,” said Kate Miller, junior at Hofstra. After being closed for several months students share mixed feelings about the new Dutch Treat’s. ”At first it didn’t offer make your own sandwiches, I was pretty upset about that,” said Tali Mahon, junior at Hofstra.
Dutch Treats was also expanded in size to allow for a larger ordering section for sandwiches, soups, and salads.
Friday September 16, 2011 student affairs held a reopening and remodeling of Hofstra USA celebration where the first 250 students to arrive recieved a free t-shirt. Hofstra USA now offers a restaurant, game center, and is completely redecorated.
